We were allowed by park rangers to stand at the bottom of the cliff (Pulama Pali)and watch the lava burn everything in it's path.  The dangerous part was walking for a few miles out to this site over un-even lava terrain. Some people suffered sprains and cuts from the razor sharp volcanic glass.

We were allowed by park rangers to stand at the bottom of the cliff (Pulama Pali)and watch the lava burn everything in it's path. The dangerous part was walking for a few miles out to this site over un-even lava terrain. Some people suffered sprains and cuts from the razor sharp volcanic glass.

  • Treated to a rare surface lava flow during my last visit.  I was so close I could have touched it.  The heat was very intense but it was mostly safe to view because of Hawaiian Volcanos slow moving lava flows.
