  • Treated to a rare surface lava flow during my last visit. I was so close I could have touched it. The heat was very intense but it was mostly safe to view because of Hawaiian Volcanos slow moving lava flows.
  • We were allowed by park rangers to stand at the bottom of the cliff (Pulama Pali)and watch the lava burn everything in it's path. The dangerous part was walking for a few miles out to this site over un-even lava terrain. Some people suffered sprains and cuts from the razor sharp volcanic glass.

  • Here is the same flow as the previous image but shot in "InfraRed" showing all of the smaller hot spots.
  • Once the lava gets to the bottom it pools and mostly solidifys ( Image also shot in "Infra Red"
